Fashion Resolutions You Want for Your Closet
Most of us set resolutions for the New Year, promising ourselves that our new year will be our best ever. While setting financial resolutions, health resolutions, and lifestyle resolutions, though, many people overlook fashion resolutions. However, fashion resolutions are important, since they help you transform your look, help you feel like a completely new person, and make you feel more confident. Here are some fashion resolutions you may wish to add to make 2009 the best year ever:
1) I will clean out my closet every quarter. Cleaning your closet each season ensures that your seasonal clothes are placed at the front of your closet, so you don’t have to keep digging through tons of clothes you are not wearing right now to find an outfit to wear. Clearing your closets regularly also allows you to get rid of any items you no longer wear, no longer like, and items that no longer fit you.
2) I will not hang on to clothes I don’t wear. No one has that much closet space. You need to keep your closet space for the clothes that you actually wear, or you’ll end up with a full closet and nothing to put on.
3) I will invest in good undergarments. Good bras and panties and foundation garments in general make you look slimmer, more elegant, and less lumpy. Whether you’re wearing a dress, formal dress, or suit, you always look better with the right lingerie.
4) I will fix or throw out items that need repairs or alterations. Sometimes, we hang on to a dress because the zipper needs fixing or the hem needs to be redone. The problem is, unless those alterations get made, the garment is just taking up real estate in our closets. The first time you clean out your closets this year, toss aside all the clothes that need cleaning or alterations, and take them in right away. Anything that can’t be altered or cleaned should be tossed.
5) I will set a fashion budget. Yes, it can seem annoying and even unpleasant to set a budget rather than just buying what you want. However, shopping by inspiration is really hit and miss. Decide what clothes you really need and want, and determine how much you will spend. Then, get creative about how you will spend your money. Look for ways to save money by shopping online, at consignment stores, and through sales.
